Reception Class 1 (Tigers HT)

We are delighted to welcome you to Tiger Class and we are looking forward to supporting you and your children as they continue on their learning journey.

My name is Mrs Taylor and I am the Tiger’s class teacher, working alongside me is Mrs Greaves.


As a staff we believe in nurturing independence, curiosity, self-belief and an excitement to learn amongst our children. Through carefully planned focused teaching and independent play opportunities, reflecting the different ways children develop and learn, we are committed to ensuring that all children are able to reach their full potential.


The children in reception have access to a rich indoor and outdoor environment through which they are challenged and encouraged to practice and develop their learning through their own independent play. We value the contribution of parents within the children’s learning and we offer opportunities throughout the year for parents and family members to come into school and share in their child’s learning.


We follow the seven areas of the Early Years Foundation stage (EYFS) within our planning to ensure children experience a broad and balanced curriculum. We plan using a topic based approach which provides opportunity for pupils to develop the basic skills such as reading, writing, phonic recognition, number recognition and counting, and allows pupils to develop socially and emotionally as they form friendships and explor

e their feelings. Topics will be enhanced by the ideas and interests which pupils and staff bring to the learning environment.


Overall, we aim to ensure that your child’s experience during Reception is a positive, exciting and fulfilling one. It is important to us that all children feel valued, safe and encouraged.
